Final Question
I do agree with his hesitation to kill her because that is a big thing to do. You never know what will happen when u finish the kill. (Will you go to jail or not)? He is a very smart man for waiting and thinking about it carefully. You should never rush a murder yo can never know what the result would turn out to be. If he just shut up and done it i think that he would have regret the fact that he killed her and maybe killed himself. I also think that Claudius is the one that is guilty for what he did. In the end Hamlet mad a good decision for waiting some time to make a decision.

Hamlet comparison
In the first version of Hamlet,(Olivier's) it is very weird. I did not like it because it was in black and white. Also the setting was a bit weird also. In this part Hamlet is sitting on a rock out in the open right next to a rock. Maybe to relate to the feeling that he is talking about killing himself and to say that he is the only one out there. No one is support him. Compared to the one of Mel Gibson they are real different. In this one it takes place in something like a room that is very dark. There is no other noises then his voice. With that he seems to be sad the way that he talks. Also to add to the sadness is the lighting. It is so dark in this room so i can really feel his sadness. There was no special effects in this version so it was very boring. That may be the reason upon why i fell asleep. lol. But in the end, This work of Zeffirelli really brings the feeling to the audiance because of the voices and the setting.
In Branagh's version the setting was very interesting. It was set in a castle looking building that looked very old. This version is also interesting because of the way that the charectors talk. It brings great levels of suspense. The mood of the voice changes and that makes this version one that i will not pass out upon watching. This is one of the best ones because it was so well acted out it was almost like we were put in his shoes. It really explained the part of the movie clear.
Michael Almerada's version of Hamlet is one that i dont think anyone could copy, mostly because it takes place is a room that is way different then the others. It takes place in a store, which looks like a movie store. This is different then the others because it does not takes place in a medieval time it is in a modern times area such as New York . This version did not use any specific special effects but they did use music that set a mood. It was very suspenseful. The scene was very boring but it was brought to life by the way the music was played and even the movies in the backround. But i think this episode was interesting because of the scenery. He is wearing a suit but also he has a funny ooking hat on. To me walking around in a suit with a hat on like that just looks funny.
According to me i think the best version of Hamlet is Branagh's version because it really put you in his shoes. The talking is very different the the others and because he changes the tone of his voice and is not like the others.

Hamlet
The actors in the every version did a good job in portraying each character. Gibson is a real good actor and in his role of Hamlet. In this movie there is good lighting and the movie is mostly outside so the sun is one factor that gives off light. This movie cought my attention becasue it took place in a big castle. It set a good mood for the viewer and because of that i kept on watching.
Also the other versions were good to.In the one directed by Branagh it is very interesting. The music that plays in the backround brings a good mood that something is going to happen. mostly like drums and trumpits that would signal war. the lighting is in a dark place so it makes some scenes scary. The special effects were great , some that include the fog in the scene where they are in the woods with the ghoast.
In the Last one which is version 3 which is directed by Almereyda. This one is unique because it takes place in modern times. The lighting is very good because it takes place mostly in an apartment. The thing that stands out to me was the acting, it was very interesting. The way that the actors bring in the arguement with the ghoast makes me interested with this movie. The other issue that make me attracted it that shows some flashbacks with a video that he seems to watch. There was really no special effects in this movie because i takes place in modern times and i think that because there is nothing to elaborate on. That is why this is my favorite episode of Hamlet that is shown in English class.

The Monsters are Due on Maple Street
“The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own for the children, and the children yet unborn.”
I think that Serling is saying that problems that evolve in the world are not always because of what someone decided to do by useing something. He is saying that sometimes people destroy eachother with thoghts or words. Not just a weapon, in the movie the block was destroyed by what people thought in their minds. Sometimes the mind can be the most destructive tool to use. If someone says something bad to another person just for amusement not literal thoughts you dont know what that person will think your saying. That could destroy his feelings and he will start a war with you. That is what happened with the problem on Maple Street, each person believed something wrong. They called eachother a monster that doesnt live on Earth. But in the end no one was a "Monster" they all just thought it becasue prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy. In the end he says "search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own for the children, and the children yet unborn.” i think he means that if people keep on using their thoughts, attitudes as weapons it could affect what the world is going to be like for children and children unborn. That is why i agree with him, if we keep on doing this it will blow up like bombsand there could be a big explosion.

Good Night and Good Luck
I agree with Murrow's speech about his statement about the television. It can be used for alot of things. Like to bring news to us when we watch or we could see it to entertain, amuse and insulate us. If he was still alive today i think he would say that it is used for good and more and more poeple are starting to get involved with television. That would make him very happy.
Back in the time of this broadcast the television was used to tell everyone or someone certin information. Today that has not changed but it also does more then that, like people watch T.V for entertainment. I think that the T.V today has a little improvement on the flow of information. But i can also say that it is just "a box of wires and lights."

Double Entry #1
| P. 1257 Martha my wife.. What do you make of that? When Giles said that he has seen Rebecca sitting in the corner at night reading a book we all get suspicious. Why is she reading a book and trying to hide it from everyone? Since when is reading a book bad? This time is a lot different from today. You will never see anyone reading a book and trying to hide it from someone. What is this world coming to? |
